Non-Zoom Streaming

CETS Event Services has a more limited capacity to support streaming on other platforms (Youtube, or streaming from a GU event web page) than it does for streaming using the Zoom application. Patrons may request usage of “Super-large” Zoom meetings rooms from University Information Services, and thereby reach hundreds of discrete remote participants via Zoom.

Where streaming in another format is desired:

  • the patron usually has to establish its own account with the streaming service, and then
  • The patron provides to CETS a latop logged into that streaming account to CETS at the venue.
  • Event Services will connect camera video and microphone audio to that laptop (usually through USB connections).
  • And the patron would set any other streaming parameters and would launch the streaming session at the appropriate time.*

If non-Zoom streaming of a live on-campus event is desired, patrons should Contact CETS to consult ahead of time. Contact a month or two in advance is often the best approach.

* Non-Zoom streaming to partularly large groups of remote viewers may trigger requirements for Closed Captioning of the event, which may incur costs of $1.00 to $3.00 per minute for closed captioning.
