Zoom Connections

  • Zoom is available to use in any of the 138 Hilltop General Purpose Classrooms.
    • CETS has installed video-cameras and microphones in all classrooms.
    • The Zoom application is also loaded onto all of the resident PCs in the classrooms, and the built-in cameras and mics are always connected to that PC.
    • So patrons can use the built-in PC in any Hilltop classroom to add a Zoom meeting to a class or program in that venue.
    • CETS staff can provide user training on Zoom in any classroom.
    • There is no charge to use Zoom in a classroom above any classroom rental fee that the patron may need to pay to use that classroom
  • CETS Event Services can add a Zoom component to any program or event it supports, whether in an Auditorium space, or in any other event space.
    • In venues lacking a built-in video camera, Event Services will provide a video camcorder, whose output is connected to a laptop in the back of the venue, near the Event Services audio mixing board.
    • CETS will also connect an auxiliary output of sum total audio to that same laptop.
    • Event Services will connect both the back laptop and any laptop used by a presenter to the same Zoom Meeting.
      • The laptop by the presenter brings presentation content into the Zoom Meeting, while the laptop in back brings camera video and voice audio into that same Zoom Meeting. In AV circles, this is known as “using Zoom as the switch.”
    • Patrons can request a Zoom connection for their event in their Event Services request of our Google Form.
    • A Zoom connection for a non-class program or event adds $200.00 to the CETS chargees for vocie amplification and computer projection.
    • Event Services can also video-record a non-class program or event using its own video camcorder for an additional charge. This may be a higher-resolution recording than a a standard Zoom meeting recording.
      • CETS will both record in Zoom any Zoom meeting requested, and will also record the camera video + audio on a CFM card in the camcorder.
      • Event Services will then provide both recordings to the patron for any subequent post-production editing or use.
