Classroom Rental Charges
Fees for Classroom usage may apply for programs with external audiences or for external groups using classrooms.
- What is an External Audience? An external audience includes individuals who are not Georgetown University students enrolled in degree or certificate programs, and who are not Georgetown faculty or staff. Programs that are open to the general public are generally considered external uses of classroom space, and classroom rental fees may apply.
- Classroom Rental Rates apply per-day, and are based on:
- the size of the classroom used, and
- the duration (in hours) of the classroom use.
- Classroom Rental includes use of all technology built-in to the classroom. [Note: most Hilltop classrooms do not have voice amplification built-in.]
- If CETS must bring in additional equipment to a classroom for any non-semester-class program (whether or not Classroom Rental Fees are imposed) the patron may have to pay the service fees of CETS Event Services for that additional technology.
- CETS collects Classroom Rental Fees though the GMS Journal Process. Therefore, internal GU departments and groups may need to provide GMS Work Tags with their classroom request, and external entities may need to provide a complete billing address with their classroom requests.
- Classroom spaces may not be reserved or used for personal purposes. All reservations requested through CETS must support official university activities sponsored by a Georgetown department, program, or recognized student organization. Personal events, private gatherings, or activities not affiliated with university business must be requested through Georgetown Event Management Services (GEMS).

Student Groups, faculty/department activities that are affiliated with classes outside their scheduled time (connected to a Banner CRN), and department/academic affairs meetings are exempt from room rental fees but may be billed in GMS for auxiliary services at the specified rates.
- Sponsored Programs:
Georgetown departments, faculty, or student organizations sponsoring, hosting, or partnering with external groups or organizations for on-campus events that include non-Georgetown participants will be billed through GMS for both room rental and auxiliary services at the specified rates.
- External Groups:
All external groups or organizations will be billed for room rentals and associated auxiliary services in accordance with established rates. External organizations must submit a request through Georgetown Event Management Services to reserve space and host events on Georgetown property.
