HyFlex
HyFlex is a combination of “hybrid,” (alternating between face-to-face meetings) and remote interactions, and “flexible,” (students move between these participation options).
HyFlex is a course design model that presents the components of hybrid learning in a flexible course structure that gives students the option of attending sessions in the classroom, participating online, or doing both. Students can change their mode of attendance weekly or by topic, according to need or preference.
-Courses can be held with face-to-face synchronous class sessions in-person (in a classroom)
-Courses can be held in face-to-face class sessions via video conference
-Courses can be fully asynchronous
HyFlex courses are delivered both in person and online at the same time by the same faculty member.
Some students might participate in person, while others might participate at the same time online, made possible by a combination of cameras, microphones, displays, and other technology in the classroom.
Classrooms are being upgraded so that they all have the ability to allow remote students to Zoom in and join the class.
